Disability: What to Do if the Insurance Company Terminates Benefits

29 Apr

It is not an uncommon story to hear of disability benefits suddenly being terminated by a health insurance company after their periodic review. While some may actually be valid, many who really need their disability benefits are suddenly left with nothing since most people do not realize that they can actually appeal the decision. The key here though is not to be pushed around and file an appeal.

You can file your appeal directly to the insurance company or hire a lawyer to help you with the process. The good news though is that by September of this year, there will be an external review process put in place by the government where people can appeal issues such as this. This will definitely increase the chances of your appeal actually being approved, even without a lawyer. In the meantime, make sure you file that appeal within the appeal deadline given by the insurance company.
